their own thoughts, opinions and needs over those of others. On the
other hand, this moon placement confers creativity, enthusiasm, a
love of action, ambition and energetic physical activity. This is a
time for new beginnings and for instigating change, a period when
people will be highly original, innovative or seeking to break new
ground. One's role in life may seriously come into question. This is

acquiring or dispensing of information, to empty prattle in everyday
conversation. People will tend to be more curious than normal over
just about any subject matter. There is a need to keep the mind
occupied, but when mental activity stops, restlessness takes over,
and the hands or feet may spring into action. Consequently, this is a
good time for reading, handiwork or walking. In general, there is a
lively, intellectual attitude, but people may lack the tenacity to
see a difficult work project through.
Moon in Cancer
When the moon is in Cancer, things in general operate at a higher
emotional level. Sympathy, caring and sentimentality are more easily
expressed, and there may be a need for some type of emotional bonding
among family members and loved ones. There can be a tendency to
clannishness, with people more strongly identifying with their own
family, group, neighborhood, race or nationality. Food and food
preparation is emphasized, so that people are more apt to put extra
effort into baking, trying out a complicated new recipe or seeking
out new types of cuisine. There may be a heightened level of
nostalgia or preoccupation with the past; people will easily talk
about the 'good old days' or relive memories of happy events. A good
time for family get-togethers, weddings, reunions, exploring one's
genealogy, visiting museums or historical sites, and heart-to-heart conversations.
Moon in Leo

enthusiastic. While a general feeling of optimism leads many to be
roused to a new project or purpose, it may also lead to a refusal to
accept limitations. People can be outwardly expressive of their
emotions with a tendency to melodrama. A party given at this time is
sure to be a loud, boisterous affair with lots of laughter and
fun-loving amusement. There is an increased awareness toward all
matters pertaining to children, especially in their talents and in
recreational pursuits. Leo is the sign of romance; so, this is the
perfect time for romantic outings done in grand style and in
luxurious settings. There will be support and appreciation of talent,
but among creative types or strong personalities, there may be a
clash of egos. A good time for activities involving children,
picnics, outings, recreation, the theatre, parties, romantic
liaisons/dates, school plays and public speaking.
Moon in Virgo
When the moon is in Virgo, people are more reserved,
health-conscious, detail-oriented and focused on the job at hand.
Matters in the workplace will tend to run smoothly, due to a greater
fondness for efficiency and routine. Conversations will tend to
center on business (talking 'shop'), technology, health, science or
work-related issues. The mood in general is intellectual or reserved,
people becoming more shy, retiring, discriminating or critical. Many
will try to adopt 'proper' or 'politically correct' behavior, while
casting a critical eye on those who don't. Bawdy, garish, crude or
uncouth behavior will generally be frowned upon. A good deal of
energy will be focused on health issues, ranging from medical

plan. This is a good time for house cleaning, home repairs, matters

up a new schedule.

excellent atmosphere for social events, parties and gatherings of all
types. Personal relationships are especially highlighted, where great
strides can be made in mending wounds and strengthening love bonds.
The need for beauty and harmony in one's surroundings will be
accentuated, inclining people to the purchase of finery or 'special'
things such as fine furnishings, jewelry, fine wine or art. Art in
all its forms and artistic endeavors will be sought out for their
soothing effects. A good time for parties, sales, negotiations,
meetings, artistic or cultural events, culinary arts and personal relationships.
Moon in Scorpio

areas of life. People tend to be more passionate in emotional
expression, summoning renewed fervor in their opinions and belief
systems. Because of this, there may be a heightened sensitivity to
personal offenses and insults. A craving for intensity of feelings or
depth of experience expresses itself in activities ranging from
sexual behavior to acts of religious fervor. There is a need to 'get
to the bottom line' or to get to the heart of the matter, which
demands that all dealings, interactions and negotiations rely on
substance rather than on superficiality. There may be an attraction
to rich foods, so dieters should select dishes rich in flavor but not
rich in fat or calories. The secrecy of Scorpio may inspire schemes
of a subversive nature. Enhanced determination makes possible the
completion of difficult projects. A good time for dealing with core
issues such as sexuality and finances.
Moon in Sagittarius

frank and restless. In general there is a need to expand one's
horizons, and this may be expressed through travel, trips to the
great outdoors, or by delving into new subject matter along
educational lines. While the expansive qualities of Sagittarius will
make people warm, friendly and spontaneous, enthusiasm can sometimes
be short-lived. People may be high-strung, their nervous energies
needing release in some form of physical activity such as sports,
gymnastics or dance. For more sedate types, this excess energy
expresses itself as a need to meet a challenge, to debate politics,
religion or social issues, or to start a new project. People will
generally be frank and honest, but the unvarnished truth may be
expressed without regard for others' feelings. A good time for making
travel plans, educational pursuits, camping, hiking, political/social
activism, religious activities, sporting events or reading.
Moon in Capricorn
When the moon is in Capricorn, people are more ambitious, reserved,
cautious and shrewd. Spiritual or intellectual interests will become
diminished; it is a time of material ambition and an awareness of
work and duty. People may be less expressive of their emotions,
sometimes appearing insensitive or unsympathetic. This suppressed
emotional state, however, may be expressed as humor or glibness
toward serious issues. The ambitious side of Capricorn will emerge,
causing many to focus on business and career. There can be a
revelling or delight in the inner workings of business. A sense of
duty will be heightened, inspiring many to take on greater
responsibilities with regard to family, career and relationships. The
somber influence of Capricorn leads many to fall into pessimistic or
negative moods without their realizing it. A good time for business
dealings, real estate, starting a new regimen or discipline (a diet,
an exercise program, yoga, etc.) or setting a budget.
Moon in Aquarius
When the moon is in Aquarius, People will be unconventional,
gregarious, high-spirited and humanitarian. There is a feeling of
cooperation toward achieving common goals. While there is a tendency
for people to fraternize, the bonding is more intellectual than
emotional, appearing as aloofness in the personal sense but as
camaraderie in the context of a group. The humanitarian urges of
Aquarius will predominate, spawning ideas and ideals which may
promote the welfare of others in a social sense. There can be an
attraction toward the strange or unusual, difference for its own
sake, or metaphysical subjects, and many, through group influence,
may experience sudden changes in lifestyle, attitudes or beliefs. The
forward-looking aspect of Aquarius makes people tolerant of change
and unites them in wanting to create a better tomorrow. A good time
for informal gatherings, convocations, conventions, media events,
scientific inquiry, astrology and metaphysical subjects.
Moon in Pisces
When the moon is in Pisces, there is a heightened spiritual influence
and sensitivity to intangible forces. People in general are more
emotional, spiritual, intuitive, creative, kind and passive. The
super-subtlety of Pisces makes us feel vulnerable and impressionable,
causing many to withdraw from social interaction. While there is a
desire to put idealistic or spiritual principles into action, harsh
realities may bring discouragement. Many are inspired to spiritual
activities such as religious devotion, spiritual retreats, fasting or
meditation. This moon placement engenders strong feelings of
compassion, so that there will be an increase in acts of mercy to the
sick, elderly or poor. Artists may receive inspiration during this
period, prompting a flurry of creative output. A good time for
spiritual retreats, creative inspiration, musical concerts,
photography, watching a good movie or getting a psychic reading.
New Moon:
The period of the new moon lasts from about 12 hours before the new
moon until about 12 hours after. This is an excellent time to make
new beginnings. Affirmations, promises or resolutions issued
sincerely during the new moon are more apt to come about as intended.
The period from the new moon to the next full moon is a time of increase.
Full Moon:
The period of the full moon lasts from 12 hours before the full moon
to 12 hours after. This is a time for things to come to fruition or
to reach fullness. There are generally more births in the days
leading up to the full moon than at any other time of the month. This
is an excellent time to bring the different facets of a plan or
project together. Emotions run high during this period. The period
from the full moon to the next new moon is a time to tie up loose
ends and resolve old issues.
Mercury Retrograde:
Mercury Retrograde (apparent backward motion) occurs because
Mercury's orbit around the sun is faster than that of earth. Two or
three times per year, Mercury (from earth's vantage point) appears to
go backwards in the sky. Communications will tend to go awry during
the Mercury retrograde. Phone calls, letters, e-mails and verbal
communications may be delayed, misinterpreted or blocked altogether.
Car trouble is also common. Merury's retrograde motion is more apt to
affect you adversely if Mercury is transiting a planet in your natal
chart during the retrograde.
