Compatibility
Finder
Here is a simple method
to determine a basic level of compatibility between any two people
(male/female or same sex): lovers, friends, marriage partners,
business partners, co-workers, siblings, associates, etc. Look at the
two wheels below. The first one entitled "Elements" shows
the twelve signs of the zodiac and their corresponding elements: Air,
Earth, Fire and Water. Each triangle inside the circle points to the
signs of a particular element. The triangle labeled "F,"
for instance, points to the fire signs: Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.
The "E" triangle points to the earth signs. "A"
is for the air signs, and "W" is for the water signs.
From the illustration
above, you can see that persons of one sun sign are generally
compatible with persons whose sun signs are in the same element. But
compatibility between two people goes beyond a comparison of just sun
signs. For true compatibility, all planets in both persons' birth
charts must be taken into account. In astrology, it is generally
thought that if one person's planet is in the same element as another
person's planet, it is an indication of compatibility. If one
person's Sun is in Taurus, for example, and the other person's Moon
is in Capricorn, it indicates compatibility. If both persons' planets
are in the same sign, it indicates an even higher level of compatibility.
Modalities
In addition to elements
for all the zodiac signs, there are also modalities. The modalities
in astrology are Cardinal, Fixed and Mutable. Cardinal signs are more
enterprising; fixed signs are more set in their ways; mutable signs
are more adaptable and accepting of change. In the illustration
below, each square points to the signs of a particular modality. The
blue square, for instance, points to the mutable signs. The red
square is for the cardinal signs; the green square is for the fixed
signs. Generally speaking, sun signs of one modality don't get along
with sun signs of the same modality. So, Sagittarius doesn't always
get along with Pisces; Libra might not get along with Cancer; Scorpio
won't get along with Aquarius, and so on.
Just as with the element
wheel, a comparison of sun signs alone and their modalities is not
enough to get a fair evaluation of compatibility. In astrology, it is
generally thought that if any planet in a person's birth chart is in
the same modality as any planet of the other person's chart, it is an
indication of incompatibility. Suppose one person's Rising sign is
Gemini, and another person's Moon is in Pisces. Since both these
signs are mutable, it indicates incompatibility.
How To Rate The
Compatibility Of Any Two People
Print out the above
wheels so you can use them as a worksheet.
For purposes of basic
compatibility, you need only focus on the three strongest points of
both persons' charts. The strongest points of any chart are the Sun,
Moon and Rising Sign (aka Ascendant). If you do not know the Sun,
Moon and Ascendant of both persons, you must obtain both persons'
natal charts. To obtain a free chart, go to Free
Chart Page
and follow the instructions.
Once you know the Sun,
Moon and Ascendant of each person, write them next to the zodiac
signs on the above wheels in the following manner:
Write the words
"Sun," "Moon," and "Ascendant" next to
the correct zodiac signs for your natal chart. Do this on both wheels.
Using a pen or pencil of
another color, write the words "Sun," "Moon," and
"Ascendant" next to the correct zodiac signs for the other
person. Do this on both wheels.
Create a compatibility
score in the following manner:
Start with your own
"Sun" on the Elements wheel. See how many matches (hits in
the same triangle) there are to the other person's Sun, Moon and
Ascendant. If any of the other person's points are in the same sign
as your sun, add five points to your score. If any of the other
person's points are in a complimentary sign (same triangle), add
three points to your score. Repeat this same procedure for your Moon
and Ascendant.
Now go to the Modality
Wheel. Starting with your "Sun," see how many matches (hits
in the same square) there are to the other person's Sun, Moon and
Ascendant. Important:
In modalities, disregard hits in the same sign because they have
already been accounted for in the Elements wheel.
For every hit that is three signs away (90 degrees), deduct five
points from your total score. For every hit that is exactly opposite
your sign (180 degrees away), deduct three points from your total
score. Repeat this same procedure for your Moon and Ascendant.
Now tally your
compatibility score by combining your scores from the Elements Wheel
and from the Modality Wheel. Remember, hits in the Elements Wheel are added
to your score. Hits in the Modality Wheel are deducted
from your total score. Use the legend below to determine the level of
the compatibility for the relationship.
